George Clooney and wife Amal Alamuddin keep their union strong by sticking to a sweet …
Ellen DeGeneres spoke candidly this month with Out magazine about the difficulties she faced in the entertainment industry after coming out as a lesbian in 1997.
“I was the punch line of lots of jokes,” the comedienne said. “I’ve never liked mean comedy, but that became even more important to me after I was the brunt of it.”
DeGeneres’ comedy was canceled a year later, and says she worried she would never work again. She also struggled with being her authentic self.
“Time is a strange thing,” she mused. “I was at rock bottom and out of money, with no work in sight, but one step at a time, it gets better.”
