‘The Walking Dead’ Shuts Down Temporarily Amid Serious Injury On Set

July 13, 2017

Production for Season 8 of The Walking Dead has been temporarily halted after a stuntman was seriously injured on set.

John Bernecker sustained a critical head injury after falling 30 feet onto concrete while filming a stunt for the series. He was immediately transported to an Atlanta hospital. SAG-AFRTA, which represents the stunt profession, is investigating the incident.

Jennifer Cocker, Bernecker’s girlfriend and a fellow stunt professional, took to social media to share her distress, saying, “John deserves to be seen by every neurosurgeon and doctor there is until one of them sees the life we all know he has in him and bring him back to us. THIS ISN’T FAIR.”

No date has been set as to when production will resume.
